Task

According to Wikipedia, IP refers to creations of the intellect for which a monopoly is assigned to designated owners by law. The IP rights (IPRs) are the protections granted to the creators of IP, and include trademarks, copyright, patents, industrial design rights, and in some jurisdictions trade secrets. Artistic works including music and literature, as well as discoveries, inventions, words, phrases, symbols, and designs can all be protected as intellectual property. Types of IPs:
1. Patents
A form of right granted by the government to an inventor, giving the owner the right to exclude others from making, using, selling, offering to sell, and importing an invention for a limited period of time, in exchange for the public disclosure of the invention. It has to be new, not obvious and there needs to be an industrial applicability.
2. Copyright
A copyright gives the creator of an original work exclusive rights to it, usually for a limited time.
3. Industrial design rights
Sometimes called "design right", it protects the visual design of objects that are not purely utilitarian. An industrial design can be a two- or three-dimensional pattern used to produce a product, industrial commodity or handicraft.
4. Trademarks
A recognizable sign, design or expression which distinguishes products or services of a particular trader from the similar products or services of other traders.
5. Trade secrets
A formula, practice, process, design, instrument, pattern, or compilation of information which is not generally known or reasonably ascertainable, by which a business can obtain an economic advantage over competitors or customers.
Preliminary search on what was done before embarking a project is strongly recommended. A lot of insights can be seen from others' works and to consider if the project is novel and worth to take-up/continue to better develop to the next extend. As far as concerned, no one has done the same project to the proposed final project Inspector for 3D Printer. The similar to this project was to monitoring and controlling the 3D printing wirelessly, whereas this project is towards power saving especially when 3D printers are not attended for period of time.
If successful, the work here are open for public sharing, duplicating and improving to suit similar usages/application towards green and sustainability. The following shall be theIP signature of "Inspector for 3D Printers".

Definitely NO to both. In fact, the project aims to promote energy saving.
