Welcome to the evolution of Saliim, an expansive and dynamic reflection on my progression through 2016 Fab Academy experience.
I am Eric Saliim, a professor of Biology at North Carolina Central University in Durham North Carolina. I have been teaching in the field of undergraduate science eduacation for ten years and I added a new pedagogy to my teaching strategies: digital fabrication. As increasing portion of my time is spent acting as manager of a 1000 square foot space called North Carolina Central University Fab Lab
As part of this new methodology, I have been spending an increasing amount of time acting as the mannager of the NCCU Fab Lab with essentially no engineering background or training. As a result, I am currently a member of the Fab Academy Class of 2016. I am looking forward to this experience as I leave my comfort zone of pipets and fume hoods to continue my evolution into a member of an emerging community of innovators with the knowledge, expertise and tools to impact individuals and communities.
