5th 3D SCANNING AND PRINTING
step1: Test with Solidoodle The black one is used 0.3 pitch and the yellow one is used 0.1 pitch. The temperature of Extruder is185℃, bed temperature is 50℃, Filament :PLA 1.75mm

Test result

      0.3 pitch

 

  • The time: about 3 hours.
  • The mountain-shape part: Relatively rough
  • The CBA logo: Beautiful than 0.1mm
  • The top layer: Relatively rough

      0.1 pitch

 

  • The time: about 6.5 hours.
  • The mountain-shape part : Smooth
  • The CBA logo: Not so good than 0.3mm.
  • The top layer: Smooth but some holes on it.
 I used Rhino3D to made a Interspersed ball. This ball is made of a lot of deformed triangles, the triangles are Insert each other, overlap but do not intersect, so it can not be made by subtractively. Rhino3D is a very convenient parametric modeling software. I input parameters, the software will automatically make the model. The temperature of Extruder is185℃, bed temperature is 50℃, pitch is 0.1mm, and the Filament is PLA 1.75mm. At the first time I got the result on the right. when the printing started Twenty minutes the whole model began to move from the original position, so I had to stop printing. Then I reduced the movement speed of extruder head from one hundred percent to ninety percent, and I got the model on the left side. step2: Printing

My final project is to make a mechanical arm armor, If I could get the exact data from my arm would be very helpful.

So I scanned my upper body in a lots of way, It's hard for me to get my entire upper body data by using this scanner.  unfortunately I couldnt got a clear date. Then I scanned a sitting position.

step2: Adjustment model

After I finished scanning, I import the file to Mesh lab, select "Remeshing,Simplification and Reconstruction"  then select "Quadric Edge Collapse Decimation" to reduce the mesh of model.

 

 

step3: 3D printing

Then I printed the models with 3D printer “Solidoodle” at Fablab kyushu univ.
