Make Kabuto

Make Needles

I made many needles in week 14. I cut cupper tapes to make circuits of LEDs. I used 2 vinyl cutters : GX-24 produced by Roland DG and silhouette produced by CAMEO. silhouette is cheaper than GX-24 but cut cupper tape better. I put together 2 pasteboard with a masking tape because the data of circuit was longer than oen of them.

the surfaces of the parts are rough. So I pasete clear masking film before painting.

Make Shirokoes

shiroko is a part of kabuto. it is joined under the helmet to protect a owner's neck.

I used some 6φ ropes to connect each shiroko.First, I wanted to buy yellow rope. But it was expensive and too long. So, I decided to buy cheaper white rope and paint that. The ropes made from polyester.I painted the rope at FabLab Dazaifu. I used the documentation made by FabLab SENDAIas a reference.

I cut the frame of shiroko with laser cutter. I use 2mm styrene papers as the material.

I made the support parts to do composite the parts of styrene papers.

Make a Helmet

First, I made some support parts to do composite helmet.

combined top and bottom parts and coverd overall with plastic wrap before composite.

Second, I cut styrene paper again to add a decoration part like a board the back of helmet. When I did composite them, the board of a styrene paper was broken because of the power of the compression. So I tried to do composite the board of a styrene paper only.

I tried to mixed epoxy and talc and putty the front of helmet to reduce wrinkles.
After puttying, did composite same as always.
I succeeded to reduce wrinkles. But I wasted some epoxy because epoxy indurated very quickly and generate heat when mixed talc.
