Shinichiro Ito

26 years old Designer.

I graduated from a Bachelor of Acoustic Design and a Master of Design Strategy from Kyushu University.

I have backgrounds of Sound Engineering, Inclusive Design.

Currently I'm working in Kyushu University School of Design and FabLab Kyushu Univ.β in Fukuoka, Japan.

I was an intern at FabLab Amsterdam in 2014 and learned and worked with my boss Alex Schaub. It was how I met with Fab world.

Then I did volunteer at FabLab Dazaifu in Japan.

Taking FabAcademy is very exciting since I have seen many great fabbers when I was an intern of FabLab Amsterdam.

To learn how to make almost anything is to learn how to live almost any ways. That is my motivation.

Enjoy Making!

idea

The idea is...

Generative Sound Installation based on heartbeat Instalalltion:

you can listen to your sound that is generated by your heart beat.

portrait portrait

■sensing heart beat with a probe >> like stethoscope

■It has sound amplifier and loudspeaker system

■generative sound generator system (kind of osillator or synthesiser)

■Soft texture material would be good for speaker part.

■According to Wikipedia, the typical size of heart is 120mm(length) x 80(width) x 60(thickness).I would like to make it with real scale.

Web Development

I had a little bit of knowledge of web development but I had few experience to build real website.

So, it's a good challenge for me to make a website with somekind of originality.

I made the concept for my website: "No Reloading". I don't want people to jump to other URL because it needs reloding and it takes time.

For this concept I found a FullPage.js which is a simple and easy to use jQuery plugin to create fullscreen scrolling websites.

There are many Eamples in Fullpage.js. I tried all of them, then decided to use "FixedHeaders" example. I custamized the example html and css.

These are materials to learn CSS and HTML:

■ a lot of googling

tools

Fullpage.js

Atom >> open-source text editor developed by Github. It has many plugins that make me happy!

Emmet >> make html coding easy. For example: p+tab key then you can make <p>

To Add a new section and slide: use this code

                                <div class="section" id="sectionN">
                                  <div class="weekN">
                                    <div id="tit">weekN</div>
                                      <div class="slide" id="wNslideN">
                                        <div id="content">
                                            <div id=headline><u>weekN:</u></div>
                                            <p>comming soon</p>
                                        </div>
                                      </div>
                                  </div>
                                </div>

Git and Gitlab

1) using SourceTree which is a GUI git tool is easy way.

2) loggig in GitLab FabAcademy with fabble account.

3) create a SSH-Key on my laptop(OSX 10.9). When I typed "cat ~/.ssh/id_rsa.pub" on my terminal, I found I had ssh-key.

But I recreate it with "ssh-keygen -t rsa -C “email”"" command.

4) adding SSH key on GitLab: go to GitLab -> profile settings -> SSH Keys

and past my ssh-key("pbcopy < ~/.ssh/id_rsa.pub" is good way to copy ssh-ky on Terminal)

5) Create a new Repositry on SourceTree: resister git SSH address

:<git@git.fabacademy.org:fabacademy2016/fablabkyushu.git>>. when cloning is done,then I could use Git on SouceTree.

6) Try Git with SourceTree. There are 4 basic commands for this fab academy usage:

■Fetch: getting the changes on gloal repository.

■Pull: Get the last status on global repository. Do it before I do commit.

■Commit: adding latest status to local repository on git. it's like saving to my history.

■Push: Pushing latest status to global repository on git. saving to global history.

notes: with SourceTree "add" command is kind of wraped so it's easy. I have to try it with Terminal. "Merge" and "Brunch" concepts must be undertood.

Notes

■Using SyntaxHighlighter to show codes cleary on website.Like this:>> use it like this way:

 <pre class="brush:html"> codes </pre>

This tool is good to make espaped HTML code for SyntaxHighLighting

Troubles

■The width of each content on each section is wider than window

■sometime the content would go under header and footer.

■On iPhone the font size is not readable enough.

TO DO

■To add somekind of animation (with jQuery processing.js or LazyLanePainter)

■To add SNS links on header or footer ✔DONE Font Awesome is used(2016/2/7)

■To add menu to move to specific page on header ✔DONE (2016/2/7)

■more responsive

■more readable // Use font "Lora" from Google Web Font(2016/2/7)

week2/Computer-Aided Design
3D tools

This weeks assignment is to try many 3D/2D tool as many as possible and model the final project.

Sculptris:free/sculpting

Fusion360:3Dmodeling/sculpting

Meshmixer:free/sculpting

specimen:BioDigital Human

I would like to make a model of heart. I found a website called Biodigital Human that shows 3D view of Human body and system.

Usage:

1. Login or Sign Up to the website.

2. Choose the parts of body that you focus on.

3.

I can see the heart part and even embeded it like this:

heart
Sculptris

Making heart model with Sculptris.

・Easy to draw someting on object, so It's good tool to make blood vessels. of heart

・Difficult to make beautiful surfices.

Good that I can do Sculpting and Modeling and Rendering and CAM and Animation and Simulation in one software.

Especially rendeing quality is amazing.

Would be difficult to make details of Heart part.

week3/ computer-controlled cutting
cardboard press-fit construction kit

sketch

I started with sketching on post it.

This work inspired me to make construction kit.

The idea is to stick the half circle to the slit in the middle of the part.

Material: 5mm thickness card board

so the width of the slits are set 5mm.

I wanted to test the best width of slit, but I don't have much time to this. I will do it following weeks.

Vectorization

I used Illustrator CS6 to make file for laser cutting.

■ on Illustrator cutting rules: set the thickness of line = 0.01pt, color:R255 G0 B0, save as illustrator CS4 version.

Laser Cutter

Laser Cutter:Epilog Laser Mini 50w (work area: 600mm x 300mm)

■ Set Focus to the cardboard top. I used focus tool.

■ Never forget to turn on Air Compressor and Dust collecter.

Laser Cutting

First I tried Power 30 Speed 30, but it didn't cut off completely.

Then I tried Power 40 Speed 30. It was better.

Outcome

Vinyl Cutter

I made sticker with vinyl cutter.

I wanted to make some abstract image for my laptop.

I used illustorator CS6 to make a date.

Vinyl Cutter: Roland CAMM-1 GX-24

power:120gf

Outcome

Extra Laser Cutting

Making the sign board for our FabLab Door
