0 Abstruct My final project is circular loom, weaving your image to circular fabric. It have 3 functions to help your weaving. 1.circular heddles : control radical warp thread to be easy to pass woof. 2.LED INDICATORS: indicate pattern woof as digital image. 3. Umbrella transfer : hooking part for transferring Fabric onto umbrella for starch and dryness process.

1.Sketch of my final project

I would like to make Circular Loom for weaving Nanduti. Ñandutí is a traditional Paraguayan embroidered lace, like fabrics woven on the threads which go to and fro across the circular. therefore it could make using circular loom. the existing a circular loom is like fig. 1. I would like to add three functions to it.

1-1. Circular Heddles

Typical looms have more than two heddles to make the shed. the shed is the temporary separation between upper and lower warp yarns through which the wefts is woven. The shed is created to make it easy to interlace the weft into the warp and thus create woven fabric. I would like to make circular heddles for circular loom.

1-2. Transferring structures to Umbrella

When the weaving finish, cloths need to strath and dry . I thought of a idea that cloths are transfer to Umbrella, by forking its bones. Japanese Umbrellas have more bones than another contories. #1-3. pattern indicator lights weaving cloth is too big to become more difficult to weave delicate patterns. I thought that circular image transform to rectangular pattern. LED light indicate weaving pattern for each layer.

Main frame design made in class 7. but I changed its material from poly board to MDF. # 2. circular heddles

2-1composited heddles

I made circular heddles by using method of woody bonding. It made to join 3 thin layers of 2.5mm MDF and 1.5mm PET on top of each other
1. cut out designs for each layers design by Layser cutter 2. join MDF layers by the adhesive for wood, join between MDF and PET by 3. fix by many clips formed into an circular shape

2-2 movement trick part

It have curve to fix along heddles. I made movement trick part by using method of woody bonding too. 1. cut out designs for each layers design by Layzer cutter . 2. cut out molding flasks by CNC machine. 2. join all layers the adhesive for wood. 4. fix by molding flasks formed with curve.

2-3 Umbrella transfer

hooking parts react towards both 36 and 72 warp threads. by the way, It need height as center movable region of heddles(about 25-30cm from main frame ). So I made it by stacking 3 layers of 9mm MDF. I cat out tis layer by lyzer cuter. this had two merits. 1. easy to repair and remake. 2. to burn side of surfaces black to be black it’s to be good background for LED lights.

2-4 machine disgin

I wanted to use “Mokko”design center of main frame. In class 3 I referred to “Oda-mocco”, most famous in japan. But in this project I want to use “Mokko” as mark for dividing circle by four

electrical design and programing

One circuit for controlling 48 LEDS

At First I planed to control 144 LED by 3 boards that conect by network. But I have no time. By tha way I hited alternative idea that could weave up circular fibric. My loom could turn fibric by Umbrella even whaile weaving. Most Tradtinal weaveing patterns That I waold werve are loop of polygonal structure. therefore On my loom I could weave up most with LED indecater at 1/3 circle .So I made to LED control circuit by 1 controler and sift resisuters.

Contral boards

Its board keep weaving patterns.It acsept signals from 2 bottarns and then sent LED paterns to sift resistors as weaving layer pattern.

Sift_register_boards

Sift register boards could control 8 LEDS as comands from Control board.Its conect to control board with 3 pins.

Sift register boards don't have any program but its could keep commands temporarily.

So Its could conrrol LEDS as numbers as its output pin with simple curcuit.

Trouble

I fgorgot one joint in eagle's design. but I finished to milling boards all. tharefore I joint them backside of board.

All boards is parallelly supplied from battery.

I refoerred to this site.

Each layers waveing paterns setup with base program. It's very simple program. In future I would make software to cconvert several images into code. In class 6 I learned to use resistor for cancels noises from swiths. but I used arduino command "INPUT_PULLUP".Its command serve for resistors.
