3D Scanning & Printing

Here's the list of softwares I used :
Here's the files :

I began this week by drawing a piece with antimony, I could'nt try it before because of time.
I choose a part of my final project : the pulley. It will be printed, impossible to build it subtractively.
I enjoyed work with Antimony !

I drew rectangle and subtract a triangle to begin. Added two rectangles and revolved.

And made holes around to save materials and best design.

Here's the final patch:

I really like the design, I'm looking forward to print it. Obviously, I'll cut in the middle and print two half parts.
I exported the STL and opened it with Meshlab, nothing's wrong in the file, ready to print !

Let's scan now:

We used the Apple Isense to scan, I choose my favorite object in the Lab: the coffee pot.

I turned around the object, a white foam is telling you that the surface is scanned. I export the file and open it with Netfabb.

I had to repair holes, and close the bottom, Netfabb do it almost automatically.

Something difficult to print:

I drew a sphere in a box, I decided tu use FreeCad to discover a new soft.

I tried to export an STL file but when I opened it with MeshLab the result was not what I expected ...

I never tried to print this part, maybe one day...

3D printing is good for rapid prototyping, the filament is cheap but it prints very slowly. Other problems is the quality of the print can vary depending on room temperature, filament, moisture.
Settings could be difficult to find. But most of the time the printed result is OK. 3D printer is not my favorite tool, I don't like plastics very much.
Whatever, it exists as a part on my final project.

I first tried to print the pulley with the Formlab:
I used PreForm:

I created supports :

4 hours later the part is printed and HORRIBLE !!!
Weird, I often used the FormLab, it is the first time I have so awful result.
I think I should change the orientation of the part...

I printed a modified STL with the Stream 20 PRO and the result is really good:

Here's the pulley ready to install on the SmartMachinery:
