Applications and Implications
what will it do?
Following the first proposal, I have been working during the semester on some kind of responsive facade module. Based on a simple origami pattern it has evolved passing through more complex models and finishing in the apparently simplest solution.
Although this pattern is quite simple, this solution solves not only the deployment issue, besides it works with the bigger opening.
who's done what beforehand?
Actually, I have been thinkink about this projects during all the semester and many issues and devices have done in this direction, but hereinafter I have to materialize the idea and arrange all the elements in order to get a successful prototype.
I have designed a frame but I have decided to reduce the scale of the model, so I have to resize the frame.
I have a clear idea about the motion of the deployable screen ( shown bellow ), but I should make a physical model.
I have a clear idea about the electronic and the programming, perhaps in this way I have worked narder because is the weak aptitude I have.
what materials and components will be required?
Plywood or MDF board depending on the dimensions of the prototype
Circular carbon fiber section bars
PLA
Cardboard, Paper, PET sheets ( to be determined )
Different kind of Bolts
Electronic components.
where will they come from?
All the mechanical materials come from the inmediate environment. ( almost I am trying it )
Electronic components are provided from the LAB repository.
how much will it cost?
a great amount of material I am going to use are unexpensive, I am trying to work with remnants and remain materials.
what parts and systems will be made?
Almost all the parts will be made or it needs to be processed. It is necessary to be bought only the servo-motor.
what processes will be used?
Designing by parametric tools.
Cutting or milling for major pieces.
3D printing for special parts as joints, supporting stuff and so on.
Electronic production, milling, soldering.
Programming.
what tasks need to be completed?
By now, I have many ideas. But the issue would be an ordering question.
I have fabricated almost all the parts or at least something that could works in that way. But probably I have to adjust all the models and proceed to fabricate all of them again.
what questions need to be answered?
I have to solve the question related with the material behavior in order to obtain an appropriate deployable material that works without any kind of stretching or bending behavior.
what is the schedule?
I have almost three weeks to go, but I have to finish some issues too and complete many details into the different assingments.
I will try to do my final presentation as soon as possible!
how will it be evaluated?
I think that the main goal is to arrange more than a single module perfectly operative. In this way would be shown the difference between the engines working through the different values of several sensors.
